Tunisian footballer Nizar Issaoui died after setting himself on fire outside a police station.
As written The Epoch Times35-year-old Issaoui explained his act like this before self-immolation: “I have no more strength, let the police state know that the sentence will be carried out”.
The story began in the bazaar. Issaoui was outraged that a banana trader was selling them for three euros per kilogram, double the price set by the authorities to combat speculation amid a shortage.
The football player filed a complaint with the police. In response, the seller declared that Issaoui is a terrorist. The police took the trader’s words very seriously and opened a criminal case on terrorism.
In protest, Nizar Issaoui set himself on fire outside the police station. He was hospitalized with third degree burns. And soon he died.
Nizar Issaoui played almost his entire career in the Tunisian championship.
