The ancient Ukrainian dish of stuffed cabbage is prepared simply, from available products, and turns out to be hearty and tasty.

Stuffed cabbage is an ancient Ukrainian dish originating from Western Ukraine. Traditionally, stuffed cabbage was served at weddings and holidays. There are several options for its preparation, but the constant ingredient in each recipe is cabbage, pickled or fresh, which is covered with millet. Cabbage covered with millet
For cooking you will need:
- fresh cabbage – 400 g;
- sauerkraut – 200 g;
- millet – 200 g;
- carrot – 1 pc.;
- oil;
- salt – to taste;
- ground black pepper – to taste;
- Allspice peas – 2-3 pcs.
Chop and stew for 5 minutes in a pan with oil. Add sauerkraut and stew for another 5 minutes. Salt, pepper. Grate the carrots on a fine grater and place in a layer in a baking dish. Add allspice. Put the millet in the cabbage and mix. Put it on the carrots, add a little water and 2 tbsp. l. oil Cover with a lid and put in the oven – stew at 160°C about an hour.
When serving, sprinkle the stuffed cabbage with cheese and meat cracklings.
