Ukraine expects to hear an invitation to join the Alliance at the July NATO summit in Vilnius. The president said this in a video message. Vladimir Zelenskyadding that it would be a well-deserved invitation.
“Neither the majority of Ukrainians, nor the majority of Europeans, nor the majority of the inhabitants of the entire NATO space will understand the leaders of the Alliance, unless a well-deserved political invitation for Ukraine to the Alliance is issued at this summit in Vilnius,” the president said.
He stressed that Ukraine did everything to ensure that its application was satisfied.
“It’s hard to even say whose contribution is greater to European and Euro-Atlantic security than our soldiers… Ukrainians and Ukrainian women who defend freedom with their lives. Thanks to all the partners who support us in this,” Zelensky said.
- Zelensky during today’s meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine is not looking for an alternative to joining NATO and hopes to receive security guarantees from the Alliance at the July summit in Vilnius for the period of preparation for membership.
