On Friday, May 26, the court seized a vessel called Bukhta Sokolovska, which belongs to the holding of sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleksandr Verkhovsky. The cost of the ship is estimated at almost 1 billion hryvnias.
About this reported SBU in Telegram.
According to the special service, Oleksandr Verkhovskyi is considered a member of the Kremlin’s inner circle and is known as one of the biggest financiers «donors” in the war against Ukraine. The fishing industry, which the Russian businessman is engaged in, gives him the opportunity to regularly transfer billions of dollars to the budget of the Russian Federation.
Before the full-scale invasion, the Russian industrial vessel was under construction at the Mykolaiv shipyard. In order to avoid sanctions, the beneficial owner of the vessel decided to register it with one of the controlled companies located in the Primorsky Krai of the Russian Federation.
At this time, the ship was transferred to the management of the National Agency of Ukraine for the detection, search and management of assets obtained from corruption and other crimes (ARMA). This agency is responsible for confiscating and managing assets that have been illegally acquired or are associated with criminal activity.
