Retired lieutenant colonel Day Hamptonwho has been called “the deadliest American F-16 pilot,” is skeptical of reports of an “elite” strike group in Russia.
He considers it Kremlin propaganda. This is what Hampton is all about said in an interview with “Voice of America”.
According to him, Russians are very good at propaganda.
“I would be skeptical about that. I mean, again, these people, if they were really ‘elite,’ and that word is used a lot, but you have to be careful with that word, because a lot of what it’s not really ‘elite.’ But if they had these people and this and this equipment, why didn’t they use it a year ago, right? I mean, why now?” Hampton said.

According to him, such messages from the Russians “reek of propaganda.”
“If this is the bomber force that the British are talking about, then your MiG-29s are very capable of resisting bombers trying to infiltrate your country,” the pilot said.
In this case, Patriot systems will probably be involved in the fight against “elite” Russian aircraft.
“Patriot chews them up and spits them out. If they’re more advanced air-to-air fighters, that’s something else entirely. Then again, you’ve got the Su,” Hampton added.
According to him, the F-16 would also help detect bombers at low altitude.
“And if they’re going to fight air-to-air, then again, a proper F-16 with a proper radar and air-to-air missiles can help a lot with that as well,” the American pilot said.
However, he emphasized that any information from the Russians should be taken critically.
“I mean, you guys have been beating them for a year and a half. So I don’t think any of your people are too afraid of the Russians. So let them come. A few more people will never come home,” Hampton added.
Former American pilot Dan Hampton called the Russian fighters Su-35 “junk”. According to him, the Russians paint these patches beautifully, put “all kinds of cool stars and everything else”. But it’s actually not that good of a plane.
According to British intelligence, Russia is likely to creates a new “elite” assault aviation group under the code name “Storm”, which will operate over the territory of Ukraine.
Russia declares the creation of the so-called “elite Storm air group” rather for propaganda. After all, there is no practical sense in this, said the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat.
