The minister emphasized that Russia has once again proved to the whole world that it is a terrorist state, because the detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP will have environmental and economic consequences, and will pose a great threat to radiation and food security.
“The price of building a new hydroelectric power plant may cost about $1 billion, as it is not only about installing new hydro units, but about restoring the integrity of a huge dam. It will take at least five years to restore the dam alone, and the cumulative effect of the humanitarian and environmental consequences of the detonation will only increase.” , – Svyridenko informed.
According to her, the world community should act as hard as possible towards Russia. She also emphasized that Ukraine needs help as soon as possible in minimizing and eliminating the consequences of the detonation in the interests of all humanity.
“First of all, we are talking about the dismantling and construction from scratch of an entire complex of a new hydroelectric power plant. According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Environment and the State Environmental Inspection, damage to water resources has been caused by UAH 2 billion. The amount will only increase,” Svyridenko emphasized.

According to the assessment of “Ukrhydroenergo”, It is impossible to repair the Kakhovskaya HPP, as the equipment of the machine room of the station was destroyed. It is expected that in the next few days the Kakhov reservoir will completely disappear.
The Ministry of Energy noted that disaster at the Kakhovskaya HPP will affect other hydroelectric power stations, which will lead to an imbalance in the power system. Also due to the undermining of the Kakhovskaya HPP a number of energy facilities were threatened with destruction of Kherson region, in particular, Kherson thermal power station.
The government allocated UAH 120 million to the State Agency for Water Resources for sustainable provision of drinking water to residents of Mykolaiv and UAH 845 million to provide drinking water to residents of Kherson, Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. UAH 1.5 billion has also been allocated for the construction of new water mains. This is necessary to provide Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol and Marganets with drinking water.
