The singer Melovin invited to the popular stand-up show “Biography”.
However, in the middle of the shooting, he left the program with the words: “Sick people.” An artist on Instagram complained to bullying and homophobic jokes.
According to him, there was a pleasant atmosphere behind the scenes. But as soon as the comedians took the stage, “the jokes almost immediately turned into banal bullying without a sense of humor.”
According to the artist, comedians humiliated not only him, but also all representatives of the LGBTQ+ community.
“That it was only about me is one thing. But in my presence, they insulted all representatives of the community, the same full-fledged Ukrainians. People who are not indifferent to me. And whose interests I have been protecting for a long time. To be present at a show where an entire class is insulted in my presence , where they promote intolerance of otherness?” Melovin said.
The singer also reminded that June is the month of pride.
“That is, global brands announce their support for the LGBTQ+ community, recognizable logos become rainbow. And four guys from Ukraine, my age, are trying to humiliate those who are just choosing the right to be honest. A striking contrast, don’t you think?” – asked the artist.
In the comments under the video, supporters supported the singer.
“You did the right thing by leaving. Because that show is shit. It’s not humor, it’s stupid insults, stupid insults of what is important to you,” “There’s either sexism or homophobia,” “It’s too much, to call a person on show and engage in real harassment”, “So stand-up in their understanding is mockery of a guest? Well, it sucks,” followers wrote in the comments.
In July 2021, Melovin made a coming-out performance at Atlas Weekend. The artist kissed first the girl, then the boy, and raised the LGBT flag above the stage. He explained that he does not want to exist in such a future of Ukraine, where the struggle for rights and freedoms is censored and not aired.
