The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that a 21-year-old Palestinian was killed on Wednesday (October 5th) during an Israeli army operation in an area of the northern occupied West Bank.
A Palestinian was killed on Wednesday during an Israeli army operation in an area of the northern occupied West Bank, which has been plagued by heightened tensions in recent months, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced.
According to this source, 21-year-old Alaa Zaghal is “ died of a gunshot wound to the head fired by the armye” in Deir al-Hatab, near Nablus, the ministry added. Two other people were injured in the shoulder, according to the same source.
The army told AFP that a military operation was underway in the village of Deir al-Hatab.
The Israeli army has multiplied operations in the West Banka Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, in the wake of a wave of anti-Israeli attacks that have left 20 dead since mid-March.
Resurgence of violence
These operations, punctuated by clashes with the population and concentrated in the sectors of Jenin and Nablus, in the northern West Bank, also killed dozens of Palestinians, including members of armed groups.
On Sunday, two gun attacks near the city of Nablus resulted in two minor injuries, a motorist and an Israeli soldier.
This resurgence of violence in the West Bank comes as Israel prepares for new national elections on November 1 and against a backdrop of internal tensions in the Palestinian Territories, where many young people accuse the Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas not to oppose the operations of the Israeli forces.
