BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) – A Bristol police officer, who was branded a local hero following last month’s tragic double shootings, has been honored by WWE.
During a stop at the XL Center in Hartford, WWE presented Officer Alec Iurato with a personalized belt. The dazzling belt features the Bristol Police logo.


“WWE has not only been a great support to our heroes Lt. Dustin Demonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy’s families, but also the Bristol Police Department,” Bristol Police said in a statement. . “Thank you for your support. We appreciate YOU!
The honor follows the tragic deaths of DeMonte, 35, and Hamzy, 34. The two officers were shot and killed on October 12 while responding to a call about a domestic violence situation between two brothers. Iurato, 26, who was injured in the shooting, fired the shot that killed the attacker.
