Destiny 2 Lightfall is only three weeks away, and another trailer has been released showcasing each class’s new Strand abilities. It’s no understatement to say that Bungie wants to distinguish each class with a certain vibe when using Strand.
Warlocks really embrace their Space Wizard moniker as their abilities revolve around creating small Strand minions called Threadlings. When they spawn, the Threadlings seek out and destroy all enemies in their path for you. Previously it was thought that Warlocks could only spawn a few at a time, but in the trailer it was shown that they could spawn up to 10 or more at a time depending on the number of victims they get. Either way, the Broodweaver class looks like a lot of fun for Warlocks who love their little space buddies.
The Titans are once again charging across the frontlines with their new dark subclass, Berserker. The Berserkers literally become a glorified Wolverine. When you use your super ability, Bladefury, two Strand Claws appear on your hands, where you can keep hacking and slashing your enemies until there’s nothing left. Sadly, not much else about their other abilities was shown in the trailer, but that leaves us more excited than what Bungie has in store for the Berserkers.
Last but not least, Hunter’s new Strand subclass, Threadrunner, combines aspects of Spiderman and Indiana Jones into one. Threadrunners get two grappling hook charges instead of one, allowing them to swing around like Spiderman continuously, and when it comes time to fight baddies, you can create a lasso to easily confuse them. At first glance, it looks like Threadrunners will be a staple in the next PvP meta. light. How this plays out in PvE will require further testing.
Either way, with each passing week and day, Strand seems more powerful than we could have hoped, and we can’t wait to test it out when Lightfall releases on February 28, 2023.
