Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Dai’s Adventure: A Hero’s Bonds will end its service on April 24, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
Square took to Twitter to announce that indeed, their mobile title will end its service in just a few months. The game originally launched in late 2021 for IOS and Android. There’s really no context as to why this hiatus is coming, though the developers say it’s mostly due to the “challenges and practicalities” that come with delivering the most varied and satisfying gameplay possible. The team does not believe at this time that they will be able to continue delivering what they previously have for the game, and things just need to end where they are.
There is a roadmap available that shows players how this will all go, and it outlines a few updates that will come before the service ends. The first, starting today, is that Red Gems and Item Packs are no longer available for purchase. Those who have already stored the currency will be able to spend it until the end of the service. The next step will be the end of auto-renewal for Gold Pass users. The final chapters of Dragon Tracks and Bonding Journey will be added before the shutdown, but there is no fixed date for these releases yet.
Although the service is ending fairly quickly, Square is making sure to thank those who took the time to play and enjoy their game during the time it was available and assures players that the final updates will be packed full of content. . for players to enjoy one last time. To read the entire cancellation announcement, you can do so on the Dragon Quest website.
