Pinal County supervisors appoint Dana Lewis to replace recorder Virginia Ross – Arizona Daily Independent

Dana Lewis

As expected, after brief backstage wrangling, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors named recorder assistant Dana Lewis as the replacement for recorder Virginia Ross.

The five-member council unanimously approved Lewis for the position.

Ross resigned on Thursday to take over as head of the elections department following the dismissal of former director David Frisk.

Frisk ended this week due to the disastrous disenfranchisement of countless voters in Tuesday’s primary election, when polling centers ran out of ballots and voters were expelled.

Prior to Election Day, Pinal County faced lawsuits after the Elections Department mailed approximately 63,000 voters in seven municipalities an incorrect early ballot.

On Tuesday, relying on a formula provided by Secretary of State Katie Hobbs’ office, the Elections Department failed to have enough ballots in multiple locations for voters. As a result, voters were turned away.
