MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) — A man was shot and injured in both legs following a road rage shooting in Racine County on Tuesday night.
Mount Pleasant Police and the Racine County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Kwik Trip on East Frontage Rd. in the Village of Mount Pleasant. The response came around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29 after reports that shots had been fired.
The call was forwarded from Kenosha, claiming to have heard about 10 gunshots. When officials arrived at the scene and conducted a search of the area, they found approximately 15 used 9mm shell casings in front of the Kwik Trip. They also discovered that a vehicle in the Racine Toyota dealership lot and the window of the neighboring Burger King had also been struck.
Investigation showed the suspect in the incident pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the 28-year-old Kenosha victim. He was last reported to be in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries at Froedert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.
Officials believe the incident was an isolated incident of road rage, and not one that poses a danger to the general public.
No suspects are yet in custody, so people with information about the shooting are asked to call (262) 884-0454.
