The US will send Zuni missiles to Ukraine, which have good recommendations
Pentagon included 4,000 air-to-ground missiles in the new aid package for Ukraine.
We tell you what Zuni is.
✔️Modernized Veterans
The model was developed in the USA back in the 50s, and in 2006 the missile was equipped with a laser guidance system. Field trials in 2009 showed that this was the right move. The missile successfully worked on both stationary and moving targets.
✔️Purpose
Zuni is launched from attack aircraft and helicopters, and Ukraine can adapt it to MiG-29 carriers. The missile is capable of hitting tanks, small ships, gun mounts, but is especially effective against infantry, as it covers large areas.
✔️Size and weight
Length – 2,790 mm, weight (depending on the warhead) from 46.3 to 61.6 kg.
✔️Effective range
The main trump card of Zuni. The missile can hit targets at a distance of up to 9 km. Russian competitor missiles C13 and C25 have half the range.
✔️Warhead
The missile is equipped with warheads of such types – high-explosive fragmentation, high-explosive, armor-piercing, lighting, smoke. A cumulative-fragmentation warhead pierces armor 500 mm thick.
✔️two sounds
Zuni flies at a speed of 725 m/s. This, as well as its small diameter and range, make it practically invulnerable to Russian air defense. Missiles are not available for portable air defense systems, and the Pantsir-S1 cannot hit targets that fly at a speed of more than 400 m / s.
✔️Starting device
Type LAU-10, with four missiles.
Zuni missiles are relatively simple, but powerful and reliable weapons that are able to inflict maximum damage on the enemy in a specific sector of the front.
