About 2,000 people were evacuated from Donetsk region in a week — Vereshchuk

Over the course of a week, two thousand residents were evacuated from the Donetsk region.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, announced this on the air of the All-Ukrainian telethon, Ukrinform reports.

“Almost 2,000 people were evacuated, including almost 385 children,” she said.

According to the official, people are being evacuated to housing prepared for them in Kirovohradska, Poltava and Khmelnytskyi regions.

When the evacuees arrive, they are given a one-time cash payment of UAH 2,000 for adults, and UAH 3,000 for children and the disabled, the minister said.

Such payments will be made monthly. Evacuees can also count on funds from international organizations.

Vreshchuk informed that everyone who wants to evacuate can call the hotline number, which is posted on the website of the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories.

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 29, the Cabinet of Ministers created the Coordination Headquarters, which will deal with the organization of evacuation from the Donetsk region. It was headed by Iryna Vereshchuk. The headquarters included representatives of ministries, law enforcement agencies and military administrations.

The evacuation of residents of unoccupied areas of Donetsk region is expected before the start of the heating season.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the residents of Donbas to evacuate.
