Deputy State Secretary USA on political issues, Victoria Nuland stated that the United States will stand by Ukraine as long as necessary.

During the Kyiv Security Forum, she said that US President Joe Biden asked Congress for an additional $37 billion package for Ukraine.

“Just now, President Biden asked Congress for an additional package of $37 billion so that Ukraine not only survives these trials, but also flourishes as a sovereign, protected and democratic country, and Vladimir Putin suffered a strategic defeat,” Nuland emphasized.

She explained that the US will not allow Putin to achieve his goal by plunging Ukrainians into darkness and cold.

“Secretary Blinken announced $53 million to purchase critical US electrical equipment in addition to the $50 million to purchase power generators we have already provided. Putin must not achieve his goal by plunging Ukrainians into darkness and cold after failing to achieve his goal on the battlefield. He was defeated thanks to the resilience, courage and strength of the Ukrainian people,” added the Deputy Secretary of State.

Nuland said that Putin’s attempts to take over Ukraine must be repelled or the world will become much more dangerous.

“Ukrainians are not only fighting for their own survival, Ukrainians are fighting for all of us. Putin’s attempts at violent conquest, his war crimes and nuclear blackmail, his efforts to weaponize hunger and freeze Ukraine must be repulsed and defeated. If this does not happen, the world will become much more dangerous. And then not only the light will go out in Ukraine, the light of a sovereign and democratic nation fighting for its own future,” she concluded.
