During the address, Biden said about Ukraine’s plans to launch a counteroffensive, so “in the very short term, it needs help.”
US President Joe Biden announced Russia’s unprecedented brutality against Ukraine and emphasized that the USA and the EU are united in supporting Ukraine.
The US president said this during a speech at the White House on January 25.
“Yesterday (January 24 – ed.) was 11 months since the brutal invasion of Russia. Ukraine showed its courage and loyalty. The American people showed strong support. Congress showed unity. The US worked with partners around the world to ensure that Ukraine was in the strongest position to defend itself. The USA and the EU are completely united,” Biden assured.
The head of the White House said that in the morning of January 25 he held talks with NATO allies, in particular with Germany, France and Italy.
“This morning I spoke with our NATO allies – German Chancellor Scholz, French President Macron, Italian Prime Minister Meloni – in order to coordinate our support to Ukraine. Russia expected us to fall apart, but we are completely one. Ukraine is trying to protect its territories and conduct a counterattack. In the very short term they need opportunities to retaliate against Russian troops,” the president said.
