Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin
Wang Wenbing noted that China and Ukraine “have been strategic partners” for 30 years.
China is ready to work with Ukraine to maintain the dynamics of cooperation and continue to enrich the Chinese-Ukrainian strategic partnership. This was stated by Wang Wenbing, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at a briefing, answering a journalist’s question Bloomberg regarding the relations of the countries.
“President Zelensky stated that there are fewer channels of communication between Ukraine and China than before. In particular, he is talking about communication at the level of leaders. Could you tell us about the reasons for this?” – asked the journalist.
Wang Wenbing replied that China and Ukraine “are strategic partners” and since they established diplomatic relations 30 years ago, cooperation in various fields “has made good progress, and exchanges at all levels have gone smoothly.”
“Our two countries have also actively cooperated under the Belt and Road Initiative: last year, bilateral trade reached $19.3 billion, an increase of 29.7% year-on-year. Cooperation in such areas as agriculture, infrastructure and response on COVID-19 went smoothly,” said the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Wenbing reminded that China’s position on the situation “consistent and clear”.
“We always adhere to an objective and fair approach, advocate for peace and will continue to play a constructive role in de-escalation efforts,” he said.
We will remind, earlier Wang Wenbing commented on the so-called “referendums” in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
