Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Metropolitan Epiphany met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during his visit to Istanbul. The patriarch called the war in Ukraine “devilish” and condemned Russian aggression.

Metropolitan Epiphanius presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with the Pechersk icon of the Mother of God with Saints Anthony and Theodosius. The Patriarch, accepting the icon, blessed that the entire Lavra would be Ukrainian.
After the general meeting, which was also attended by members of the Ukrainian delegation and diplomats, a personal conversation between the superiors took place in the Patriarch’s office.
