In Croatia, 12 people died in a road accident, 32 people were injured and hospitalized in hospitals in Zagreb, Varaždin and Čakovec.

On the morning of August 6, in the north of Croatia, a bus with Polish registration went off the road on the 62nd kilometer of the A4 highway between the settlements of Jarek-Bysaski and Podvorets and fell into a ditch.

According to Polish MFA spokesman Lukasz Jasina, all the victims of the bus accident in Croatia are Polish citizens. The official confirmed the death of 12 victims as a result of the accident. Passengers and the driver suffered injuries of varying degrees of severity, five people were hospitalized with serious injuries.

It is known that the bus was carrying pilgrims on their way to the town of Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Among the victims are residents of the Mazovian Voivodeship. Croatian police and operational services are working on the spot.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

“It was with sadness that I received the news about the tragic accident of a Polish bus in Croatia. Many were killed and injured. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Polish people. I wish all the victims a speedy recovery,” he wrote.
