For the first time since the beginning of the war, a ship has arrived in Ukraine to load grain

Today, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, a ship to load grain arrived in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov informed about this in Facebook.

“Today, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, a ship arrived for loading – the bulk carrier FULMAR S under the flag of Barbados. We can already state that thanks to the efforts of the President of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure and our partners: UN and Turkey – the “grain corridor” has worked for the exit and entry to the ports of Ukraine,” Kubrakov wrote.

According to the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, this event is an important signal to the market that the “grain initiative” is a safe and, most importantly, profitable business opportunity for shipowners to return to Ukrainian ports.

In Ukraine, they are doing everything possible so that the ports can receive and process significantly more ships. In particular, it is planned to reach the level of at least 3-5 ships per day in two weeks.

According to the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ukraine’s goal is to achieve a monthly transshipment volume of 3 million tons of agricultural products in the ports of Greater Odessa. Joining the “grain initiative” of the largest port – Pivdenniy – next week will help to achieve this.

In the future, Ukraine plans to start negotiations with the UN and Turkey regarding the expansion of the initiative to other ports, in particular, Mykolaiv.

“Despite the interim successes in the unblocked ports, we continue to actively increase transshipment in the Danube ports, which have become one of the main saviors of Ukrainian exporters since February,” said Kubrakov.

According to him, in Ukraine, all scenarios are taken into account, without placing excessive hopes on the “grain corridor”.

The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure thanked his colleagues from the UN and Turkey for creating safe conditions for the entry of the first vessel into Ukrainian territorial waters.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the morning of August 5, the first caravan of ships with Ukrainian grain left the ports of Greater Odessa. Three bulkers Navi star, Rojen and Polarnet have 57,000 tons of Ukrainian corn on board, which is destined for Turkey, Great Britain and Ireland. Shipping with this caravan was resumed from the port of Chornomorsk.
