In Irkutsk, Russian Federation detained veteran of the Afghan and Chechen wars, Volodymyr Timofeev. The man criticized Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As reported by the Radio Liberty project “Siberia. Realities“, Timofeev is accused of “discrediting” the Russian army and “justifying terrorism”. According to relatives, the man is in a pre-trial detention center.

It is noted that on November 30, 2022, the court should choose a preventive measure for the veteran. Timofeev’s defense will ask for house arrest. It is known that the veteran’s bank accounts were blocked due to the case under the article on “terrorism”.

As the publication writes, at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Timofeev wrote in one of the social networks: “Putin’s ambitions and dictatorship, omnipotence and stupidity have led the giant country to the abyss and economic decline, destitution and poverty, shame and exile from everywhere.
