In the Dagestan cities of Makhachkala and Khasavyurt, as well as in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, Nalchik, hundreds of people protested against the mobilization of men for the war with Ukraine.
The largest number of people gathered in Makhachkala – several hundred people. Soon, a mass fight between the protesters and the police began. Detained close 70 participants. Security forces detained the participants of the rally extremely harshly, using stun guns and batons. Phones were taken from many detainees. Police officers sprayed pepper spray directly into the protesters’ faces. According to eyewitnesses, two girls needed medical help – they were taken to the hospital.
The protest action also began in Nalchik. Local government officials joined the protesters. They refused to answer the question of how many people will be mobilized from the republic. The conversation took place in raised tones.
On September 25, a spontaneous rally against the mobilization to participate in the war in Ukraine was already held in Makhachkala, among its participants were many women. About 120 people were detained. Criminal cases have been initiated against eight of them.
Previously, on September 25, in the Kumyk village of Andirey, Khasavyurtovsky District, Dagestan the locals left to protest against mobilization. Judging by the videos published on the network, more than a hundred people took part in it, the police opened fire in the air.
Also on September 25 on the square in front of the Government House in Nalchik about two dozen women protesting against the mobilization to participate in the war in Ukraine gathered.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on September 21 announced a partial mobilization in the country. The government announced plans to recruit 300,000 reservists into the army. According to mass media, the government plans to mobilize more than a million citizens for the war with Ukraine.
