Senators Lindsey Graham (Republican), Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse (Democrats) called on the US and allies to increase support for Ukraine by providing fighters.
All three politicians returned from Kyiv the day before – on January 20 they met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, reports “Voice of America”.
The senators urged the White House and US allies to send “more long-range weapons like ATACMS and fighter jets like F-16s and MiG-29s” to Ukraine. In their opinion, the combination of all these weapons and equipment “will help Ukraine resist the future offensive of Russia and go on the offensive both in the east and in the south to further undermine Russia’s ability to continue hostilities in Ukraine.”
They emphasized that the Ukrainian military exceeded all expectations when it came to the defense of their homeland and the use of the military equipment provided to them. The senators are sure that the tanks will be effectively used by the Armed Forces in future battles with Russian troops.
