The Security Service of Ukraine has exposed and blocked the scheme of illegal transportation of illegal immigrants from Central and South Asia across the state border of Ukraine. According to available information, foreigners were citizens of countries with a high terrorist threat.
According to the investigation, four residents of the Zakarpattia region organized the scheme. They set up a scheme of illegal transportation of foreigners outside the established checkpoints, through the so-called “green corridor”. The defendants hid illegal migrants who did not have any documents that could confirm their right to stay in Ukraine. The cost of illegal services was about $ 10 thousand from each “tourist”. It is established that the illegal scheme has been in effect since the beginning of the year.
After the persons were transported across the state border, another accomplice was waiting for the migrants and escorting them to their final destination. During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers documented the activities of criminals and warned of several attempts to smuggle foreigners across the state border. Law enforcement officers detained the organizer of the scheme and three of his accomplices in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Within the criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 332 (organization of illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal code of Ukraine, the question of the message to them on suspicion is resolved. An investigation is underway to identify other persons involved in illegal activities. The illegal scheme was exposed by the Security Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast together with the National Police and the State Border Guard Service under the procedural guidance of the Vynohradiv Department of the Berehiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
