After yesterday’s Russian missile attack, a system failure occurred in Ukraine’s energy system.
IN Ukraine as of 19:00, electricity producers provided about 50% of consumption needs.
A large part of thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants are already operating, all nuclear plants are gradually gaining power, with the exception of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP, reported press service “Ukrenergo”.
“Nuclear power plants provided half of the country’s electricity production. But nuclear power plants return to operating mode slowly after a forced shutdown – this is a technological necessity. First of all, power supply is supplied to critical infrastructure objects: gas distribution networks, water canals, sewage treatment plants, hospitals. The gradual recovery of household consumers,” the report said.
It was noted there that the consequences of yesterday’s missile attack are felt by all regions of Ukraine, and therefore it is impossible to name any exact dates for full recovery.
“After yesterday’s Russian missile attack, there was a systemic accident in the power system. Important energy facilities were affected. Automation worked. After such accidents, recovery takes longer than when the shutdown is carried out by dispatchers. We have prepared the power network for the inclusion of power plants in operation, but the deficit power in the system is still 50%. If we want to preserve the unified power system, despite Russian terrorist attacks, controlled shutdowns are necessary,” the company explained.
