Electricity consumption has decreased somewhat, which is typical for weekends. But the amount of reduction is small, so the energy system deficit remains large. This was reported in the press service of NEC “Ukrenergo”.
As a result of the Russian missile and drone attacks, the power plants (production capacities) and the high voltage network were damaged. The Russian attack on January 26 caused extensive damage to several objects in the high-voltage network. However, the power system is still recovering from the previous round of enemy missile attacks, which caused damage to power plant power units. Consequently, the production of electricity in the power plants in operation cannot entirely cover consumption.
Consumption limits have been established for all oblenergos, which apply throughout the day. Each oblastenergo of its region establishes programs of planned hourly cuts, which must ensure the consumption of the region at the level of the proven limit.
Currently, the rehabilitation of damaged energy infrastructure facilities mass attack on January 26. The most difficult situation is in the Odessa region, where, due to severe damage, the restoration of the region’s planned power supply system needs more time than before.
“Ukrenergo”, power generators and oblenergo are constantly working to restore facilities damaged by enemy attacks. However, with each subsequent attack by the Russians on the energy infrastructure, recovery becomes increasingly difficult and takes longer.
We remind you that the Ukrainian energy system has already survived 13 enemy missile attacks and 15 drone strikes on energy facilities. Moreover, more than 10 GW of the main installed capacities are currently inaccessible to the Ukrainian energy system and are under enemy control. It is the largest in Ukraine and Europe: Zaporizhzhia NPP, Zaporizhzhia TPP, Luhansk TPP, Vugleghirskaya TPP, Kakhovskaya HPP. Moreover, the majority of wind and solar power plants are also located in the temporarily occupied territories in the south. It should also be noted that in addition to the nuclear power plant, the rest of the power plants are key regulating capabilities. They are the ones who cover consumption during the morning and evening peak hours, where the current shortage is greatest.
