Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich met with Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman as part of negotiations regarding the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
The meeting between the businessman and the prince took place at the end of August in Riyadh, but the details were not made public because the event was closed.
British media reported that Abramovich “played a key role” in the release of five British citizens who were captured by Russia in Ukraine and returned as part of the exchange.
John Harding, who was one of the prisoners, claimed that the billionaire’s assistant told him about it. Harding said that Roman Abramovich met the British prisoners on board the private plane that took them from the Russian Federation to Saudi Arabia after the exchange.
