Today, February 1, at 12:00 a farewell ceremony for Andrii Parfenyuk will take place near the Palace of Culture and Sports “Metalurg” in Vilnohirsk. At the front, he was a senior rifleman in one of the rifle battalions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A soldier died on January 24 of a non-life-threatening wound during the fighting near Pidgorodny (Donetsk region). The Hero will be buried on the Alley of Glory in the city cemetery.
This was announced by the mayor of Vilnohirsk, Volodymyr Vasylenko.
“Victory over the occupiers is difficult to achieve. The price is terrible and incredibly high – human lives. Our community received from the military news of the death of a compatriot, a resident of Vilnohorsk, Andriy Oleksandrovych Parfenyuk. He is died during the hostilities in the Donetsk region.
A low salute to the hero for the dignity and courage shown on the battlefield. Sincere condolences to the relatives of the soldier, to his mother Valentina Germanovna.” he wrote.
Andrii was born in Baku on April 7, 1987. The political situation in Azerbaijan at the end of the 80s of the last century was very tense. The Parfenyuk family, fleeing military operations, moved to Vilnohorsk with 3-year-old Andrii.
Here Andriy studied at secondary school No. 3 and from an early age worked at Vilnohirske Sklo LLC.
Colleagues and friends remember him as a cheerful, responsive, sociable guy who was always ready to support his fellow man.
In February 2022, Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine began. On July 28, Andriy Oleksandrovich Parfenyuk went to defend the state against the invaders, following a call for mobilization. He was a senior rifleman at the front.
On January 24, Andriy Parfenyuk died of a wound while fighting near Pidgorodny in the Donetsk region.
“The whole community presents its sincere condolences to his mother and his granddaughter, to all his relatives, friends, colleagues and brothers. The death of our boys and girls, who could and wanted to live peacefully, work, study, give birth and raise children, is our eternal pain. And there is no forgiveness for the enemy.
