The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) will announce the decision on the admissibility of the international case “Ukraine and the Netherlands v. Russia” today.
As the Ukrinform correspondent reports, the decision will be announced at an open hearing in Strasbourg at 2:30 p.m. local time.
We will remind you that this case concerns massive and systematic violations of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories Donetsk and Luhansk regions; kidnapping and attempts to illegally remove orphaned children from Donetsk and Luhansk regions to the territory of the Russian Federation in 2014; downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.
In 2020, three interstate cases were merged into one “Ukraine and the Netherlands v. Russia”, namely: “Ukraine v. Russia (regarding Eastern Ukraine)” under application No. 8019/16, which concerns massive and systematic violations of human rights on a temporary occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions; “Ukraine v. Russia” on application No. 43800/14 regarding the abduction and attempted illegal removal of orphans from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions to the territory of the Russian Federation in 2014; The Netherlands v. Russia in Application No. 28525/20 concerning the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.
