President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that battles in Donbas – Vugledar, Bakhmut, Maryinka, Bilogorivka, Avdiivka, Kamianka – make it possible to restore security to Ukraine and all of Europe.
In the evening video messages the head of state noted the soldiers in Donetsk region who “minus” the enemy the most: marines of the 35th and 36th separate brigades, fighters of the 79th separate air assault brigade, soldiers of the 11th border detachment, 55th separate artillery brigade, 72 of the 1st separate mechanized brigade and the 74th separate reconnaissance division.
“I especially thank everyone who defends Bakhmut every day. The battles right there, in these parts of Donbas – Vugledar, Bakhmut, Maryinka, Bilogorivka, Avdiyivka, Kamianka – make it possible to restore security to Ukraine, to all of Europe, to every nation, who values his freedom and the integrity of his land,” the president emphasized.
Zelensky thanked the soldiers of the Air Force, all pilots, anti-aircraft fighters who shoot down killer drones and missiles launched by Russia.
“I thank each of our units of the defense and security forces, which respond to the occupier’s attacks on our cities. Dnipropetrovsk region, Kharkiv region, Donetsk region, Luhansk region, Kherson, Zaporizhia, Sumy region and Chernihiv region – for each of our regions that suffer from Russian terror, the occupier feels pay with your losses,” he emphasized
The situation in Donbas
Heavy fighting continues in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Since the beginning of the day, March 18, in the direction of Bakhmut eliminated approximately 190 occupants. The enemy continues to try to capture Bakhmut, which Ukrainian defenders have been holding for several months.
Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, the spokesman of the United Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction, is also stated, that the Russian troops in the area of Avdiyivka and Maryinka in Donetsk region were reinforced by a special forces unit. According to him, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders near these cities 21 times during the day.
