According to preliminary estimates, the draft will take place in at least two stages, but there may be more.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine talked about various stages mobilization in Russia.
According to the UNIAN correspondent, the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov, told during the online briefing.
As Gromov said, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the Kremlin’s haste in announcing partial mobilization is “a consequence of the growing internal and external threats to the Putin regime.”
“First of all, this is the inability of the current Russian authorities to achieve the announced goals in the special military operation. This is the growing support of Ukraine by Western countries and the maintenance of our country’s course towards joining NATO. Also, the aggravation of socio-economic problems in Russia and the strengthening of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation”, – said Gromov.
He reminded that, according to the plans, about 300,000 people will be mobilized.
“These data have been published in the press. According to preliminary estimates, the draft will take place in at least two stages. There may be more,” Gromov added.
“At the first stage, probably within a month or a half, the enemy plans to re-staff its units and military units involved in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine to full strength. It is also not excluded that part of the forces will go to re-staff the units of the border guard of the Federal Service security of the enemy for the release of the personnel of the units of the armed forces, which are involved in covering the state border with our country,” Gromov said.
He also noted that the category of persons subject to mobilization may be different.
“But we understand that the largest part will be non-commissioned and non-commissioned officers, as well as junior officers. This is the category that suffered the most losses in the enemy’s army,” Gromov added.
In addition, he noted that in the future, it is not excluded that during the second stage, the enemy will continue to carry out mobilization measures, and a number of combined military formations of operational and tactical level and a corresponding set of units of missile forces and artillery will be created.
“At the same time, we understand that the enemy does not currently have specialists in scarce specialties, and their training will take a long time. That is why the enemy has primarily focused its attention on the formation of combined-arms units, units of missile forces and artillery,” he said.
At the same time, Gromov assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready for any development of events.
Mobilization in Russia
On September 21, the President of Russia, Volodymyr Putin announced the mobilization Russian servicemen who are in reserve. The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Serhiy Shoigu, said that to mobilize about 300,000 people are planning.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine predicts that during the first wave of mobilization in Russia they may call about 40-50 thousand reservistssince there simply won’t be enough equipment for a larger number.
In British intelligence believe that Russia will have to solve logistical and administrative problems to assemble 300,000 troops, who are unlikely to become combat-ready for months. Experts note that even this limited mobilization will be very unpopular among a part of the Russian population, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking a significant political risk in the hope of creating the necessary combat power. It is also emphasized that this step is actually an admission that Russia has exhausted the supply of volunteers who are ready to fight in Ukraine.
The “Nova Gazeta. Europe” publication, citing a source in Putin’s administration, reported that classified clause of the decree on mobilization allows the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to mobilize 1 million people.
Military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Svitan expressed the opinion that within a month The Russian Federation will be able to prepare a maximum of 100,000 people for mobilization.
