Today, February 20, the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred was honored in Kharkiv region.
This was reported in the press service of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.
The commemorative event took place in the morning near the monument to Taras Shevchenko in the center of Kharkov.
These days, people in Ukraine remember the people who died on the Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity. February 18, 19, and 20 were the most difficult days for the Heavenly Hundred warriors to die. Representatives of the public, the leadership of the Kharkiv region and the city of Kharkiv honored the memory of the Heroes by laying flowers to the monument to Taras Shevchenko, at the place where Euromaidan was going.
On behalf of the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, his deputies Roman Semenukha, Alexander Skakun and Mikhail Harnam took part in the ritual of commemorating the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
“Today is a day when it is difficult to choose words. On this day, we remember the events when millions of Ukrainians rebelled against rudeness, against arbitrariness, tyranny. They rebelled for freedom. We remember those who died on the Maidan. I think that these people, by their feat, gave a completely different meaning to our country, gave a different meaning to the words “dignity”, “freedom”. That is why it is very important that we remember this, ”Roman Semenukha said.
Kharkiv residents Yevhen Kotlyar, Vladislav Zubenko and Yuri Paraschuk were killed during the events on the Maidan in Kyiv. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the fallen Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
“I remember my son every day for 8 years. I have oil-painted portraits of him hanging in every room, and he looks at me every day. How do I remember him? As he was in his 33 years. I did not refuse him a trip to Kiev on the Maidan, only asked to be careful not to go to hell. But it turned out that he was in the hottest spot on Institutskaya Street, where most people died. He carried out the wounded, returned after them three times, until the bullets hit him as well, ”Father Mykola Kotlyar shared his memories of his dead son, Hero of the Heavenly Hundred, Hero of Ukraine Yevhenia Kotlyare.
An ecumenical memorial service was also held during the event.
