People’s deputies will be issued diplomatic passports only for business trips

More than two hundred deputies did not hand in their diplomatic passports on time, so they were canceled.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recognized 225 as invalid diplomatic passports of people’s deputies, as they were not returned to storage in a timely manner. He writes about it on Saturday, August 6 UP with reference to the Ministry’s response.

“Over the past months, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has appealed several times to people’s deputies with a request to return the passports and interacted with the Verkhovna Rada to organize this process. The last time we asked to hand over the passports was during July. All our appeals were ignored. Accordingly, guided by the legislation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declared them invalid 225 diplomatic passports of people’s deputies, which were not timely returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for safekeeping,” the answer reads.

The ministry reminded that diplomatic passports are issued to People’s Deputies exclusively for official business trips, after which they must be deposited with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within ten days.

The department emphasized that diplomatic passports cannot under any circumstances be used for private trips.

“The Ministry will immediately issue diplomatic passports to deputies who will be on official business trips from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.

We will remind, People’s Deputy Petro Poroshenko left Ukraine for Poland on May 30where he was denied crossing the border twice before leaving. After that, he belatedly returned to Ukraine – instead of June 2, he arrived on June 8.
