In the temporarily captured territories of Ukraine, the occupying power started holding so-called “referendums” on the accession of these territories to the Russian Federation.
The Russians restricted the departure of the majority of residents occupied settlements.
The spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Shtupun, announced this in a video message published by the General Staff in Facebook.
“Residents of most settlements in the temporarily occupied territories were restricted from leaving for the purpose of their participation in the so-called “referendums” and further training of men of conscription age for forced mobilization into the occupation forces,” he said.
Shtupun reminded that the occupying authorities started holding so-called “referendums” in the temporarily captured and occupied territories of Ukraine. Employees of the so-called “election commissions” conduct an active campaign to attract the maximum number of local residents to fake voting.
Pseudo-referendums of Russians in the occupied territories of Ukraine
As UNIAN reported, the Russian occupiers planned to spend September 23-27 in the captured parts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions pseudo-referendums with the aim of joining the Russian Federation.
The international community condemned the intentions of the Russian occupiers. In particular, the countries of the “Big Seven” and the European Union announced that they would introduce sanctions against the Russian Federation for organizing pseudo-referendums on the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory.
Today, September 23, the head of the Luhansk OVA, Serhiy Gaidai, said that “voting” has already begun in the region – Russians with weapons and their accomplices are walking around the apartments of local residents, threatening to break down the doors of those who do not open them.
The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, also stated that in the occupied city, armed Russian invaders, together with collaborators, are visiting the homes of local residents. Frightened people are told in which part of the ballot it is “correct” to put a mark.
Russians also participate in the fake referendum brought to the occupied territory Kherson Oblast of people from Crimea.
