Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Offices in the Military and Defense Spheres of the Western Region, on February 24-28, 2022, 10 criminal proceedings were initiated against the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
As a result of the shelling on February 24 by the occupiers of the airfield of the military unit in Brody, Lviv region, 2 servicemen were wounded. On the same day, the Russian armed forces fired on the territory of the military unit in the village of Batyatychi, Lviv region and the territory of the military unit in the town of Novy Kalyniv, Sambir district, Lviv region.
All information about the crimes was entered into the ERDR and an investigation was launched into the encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, as well as the resolution and conduct of aggressive war (Part 3 of Article 110, Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code).
The pre-trial investigation into these criminal proceedings is carried out by the SBU Office in Lviv Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office.
In addition, on February 24 and 25, the occupiers fired on military units in Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytsky Oblast. Currently, inspections of the scene on the territory of the military unit have been carried out and parts of the shells have been removed.
Information was entered into the ERDR and an investigation was launched into the facts of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, crossing the state border of Ukraine to harm the interests of the state, as well as aggressive warfare or aggressive hostilities (Part 3 of Article 110, Part 3 of Art. 332-2, part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Procedural guidance is provided by the Khmelnytsky Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, and pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU Office in the Khmelnytsky Region.
In addition, on February 24, 2022, the occupiers fired on the airfield of the military unit in Ivano-Frankivsk, as well as the airfield and the premises of the military unit in Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Currently, the specialized prosecutor’s office has conducted inspections of the scene.
Under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation was launched into encroachments on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, as well as unleashing and waging an aggressive war (Part 3 of Article 110, Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code).
The occupiers struck an air strike at the airport in Rivne. As a result, 2 servicemen were wounded and military equipment was destroyed. At present, the prosecutor’s office has carried out the necessary priority investigative actions and ordered an explosive examination. Pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU Office in Rivne region on the facts of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, crossing the state border of Ukraine to harm the interests of the state, as well as aggressive war or aggressive hostilities (Part 3 of Article 110, Part 3 of Article 332-2, part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Also on February 24, the Russian armed forces fired on the airfield of the military unit in Lutsk. The prosecutor’s office inspected the territory of the military unit and ordered an explosive examination.
In addition, on February 27, the occupier fired on the territory of a military unit in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Volyn Oblast, as a result of which 3 servicemen were killed and equipment was damaged.
The information was entered into the ERDR and an investigation was launched into the facts of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, sabotage, as well as aggressive warfare or aggressive hostilities Lutsk (Part 3 of Article 110, Article 113, Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code) . The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the SBU Office in Volyn Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Volyn Specialized Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors of specialized prosecutor’s offices continue to document all Russian war crimes that will be used to prosecute and punish those responsible for encroaching on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability and waging an aggressive war.
