Ukraine expels some Iranian diplomats.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine decided to deprive the ambassador of Iran of accreditation, as well as to significantly reduce the number of diplomatic staff of the Iranian embassy in Kyiv in response to the sale to Russia impact drones.
This is stated in statement Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
In particular, to fulfill President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s mandate to take urgent measures to respond to the facts of the use of Iranian-made weapons by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, on September 23, the temporary charge d’affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ukraine was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“It was stated to the Iranian side that the supply of Iranian weapons to Russia for its further use by Russian troops against the Ukrainian civilian population and the Defense Forces directly contradicts the position of neutrality, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, publicly declared by the top leadership of Iran,” the statement said.
It is noted that the supply of weapons to Russia for waging war against Ukraine is an unfriendly act that deals a serious blow to the relations between the two countries.
“In response to such an unfriendly act, the Ukrainian side decided to deprive the ambassador of Iran in Ukraine of accreditation, as well as to significantly reduce the number of diplomatic staff of the Iranian embassy in Kyiv,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

On September 13, the Strategic Communications Department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the Ukrainian military shot down the Iranian Shahed 136 attack drone for the first time. On September 23, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to respond to the facts of the use of Iranian-made weapons by the Russian occupation forces.
September 22 in the Mykolayiv region the invaders struck over Ochakiv port by Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed 136 (Shahid-136), one of which hit a tugboat. The same day Ukrainian military shot down 4 Iranian kamikaze drones in the Mykolayiv region.
On September 23, air defense forces shot down 5 Iranian kamikaze drones in Mykolaiv and Bashtan districts.
Also on September 23, the enemy attacked Odessa with kamikaze drones from the Black Sea. Two drones destroyed an administration building in the port area, a civilian was killed. Also, as a result of an enemy attack by kamikaze drones, 4 residential buildings were damaged in Odesa. Another kamikaze drone of the Armed Forces was shot down.
