The UDP has already started discussing the possibility of chartering Ukrainian passenger ships.
This was reported by the general director of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company Dmytro Moskalenko.
The UDP Passenger Service held talks with representatives of German and Austrian companies regarding the prospects for chartering Ukrainian passenger ships. Cooperation and partnership programs have also been discussed with the Ministry of Transport of Slovakia.
Unfortunately, the use of steamers “Moldova” and “Ukraine” for steam transport is now a subsidized activity. There are several reasons. It is the decline of the river transport tourist market following the Covid-19 epidemic, and the moral and technical aging of ships, and an inefficient and non-transparent management model.Dmytro Moskalenko underlined.
The renewal of the fleet will create jobs and will also affect the prestige of the company.
It should be noted that concrete proposals are now expected from the management of the UDP passenger management.
One of the conditions is that the fleet must generate profits.
