Two people involved in burglaries in Ternopil were exposed and detained by regional operatives.
For a long time, criminal investigation officers, together with investigators, carried out measures to identify those who robbed the apartments of Ternopil residents. The thieves were detained “on the hot” by law enforcement officers together with soldiers of the KORD special unit.
Three thefts were registered by police on February 19. During the inspection of the scene, the experts noted that the victims of the crime were residents of the first and second floors. In all cases, unknown individuals entered the apartment by squeezing plastic windows and, as a rule, during working hours. They took money and gold.
The investigative measures carried out by the operatives identified the probable suspects – residents of Odessa region. All previously convicted of property crimes.
The victims of these people were residents of other regions. For a day or two, the men drove into the area, two penetrated to the middle, robbed their homes and drove on. Men spent the night in hotels.
The Ternopil police were ready for the arrival of the “burglars”. It was after the theft on Danylo Halytsky Boulevard that they were detained under Article 208 of the CPC. Investigators are investigating the duo’s involvement in other burglaries committed in Ternopil.
Residents of Odesa region were declared suspects under Part 3 of Art. 185 (theft combined with breaking into the house, which caused significant damage to the victim) of the Criminal Code. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to six years. The issue of choosing a precautionary measure is being resolved. Procedural guidance is provided by the district prosecutor’s office. The investigation is underway.
