Oleksiy Makeev speaks German fluently
Since 2014, Oleksii Makeev has been the director of the policy and communications department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also worked as a diplomat in Berlin.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Oleksiy Makeyev as ambassador to Germany, Dmytro Ponomarenko as part-time ambassador to South Korea in Mongolia. This is stated in the decrees #662 and #663published on the website of the Ukrainian leader on Friday, September 23.
In addition, Zelenskyi appointed Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Dmytro Senik as permanent representative of Ukraine at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) on a part-time basis.
At the beginning of September, the media reported about the possible appointment of Oleksiy Makeev the new ambassador in Berlin. This 46-year-old diplomat studied international relations at Kyiv State University and entered the diplomatic service at the age of 21. Makeev speaks German fluently and has already worked as a diplomat in Berlin. Since 2014, he has been the director of the policy and communications department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And 50-year-old Dmytro Ponomarenko was appointed ambassador to South Korea in November 2021.
